Release notes for the New Packet Radio modem firmware Version 2020_06_29 (29th June 2020) BETA VERSION. WARNING, not totally tested. Please report bugs. What's new in this version? (compared to 2020_02_23) * New important feature about Ethernet Phy configuration : new config param "Eth_mode". Refer to the advanced user guide for more details. Bug fixes and features inherited from previous versions * Management of SPI SRAM, which brings a big improvement. Presence of the SPI SRAM is automatically detected. Refer to advanced user guide. * PTT output signal generated at pin GPIO_10 (2x5 pins header), in order to drive a RF power-amplifier. Refer to advanced user guide. * Establishment of radio connection is accelerated, reduced to 6 seconds for most modulations. The "slow mode" is also more efficient (less ping, less jitter), due to reduction to 4x multi-frame instead of previously 8x multi-frame. * TX_test feature finally debugged, and stable. * Radio initialisation is more reliable (it used to fail again and again in some specific conditions). * Full FDD feature, with 2 separated Masters, one for uplink and the other for downlink. Refer to documentation "advanced user guide". * "Display config" now displays only relevant data regarding the current config, Master or Client mainly. * Switching to protocol v2.0. All modulation parameter changed, in order to improve greatly the RF sensitivity. Frequency deviation is doubled (GFSK) regarding previously (GMSK). WARNING : No backward compatibility with previous firmwares! WARNING : RF bandwidth has changed. Check new documentation! * Frequency setting is now with 1kHz resolution, instead of previously 40kHz resolution. * New firmware (dedicated '.bin') for 2 meter band (144 - 148MHz). Use appropriate RF4463F30 modules, "150MHz" versions. * New feature "frequency shift". * new command "version" displays the version of the firmware. * RSSI is now displayed in "dBm" * Frequency range extended to 420-450MHz instead of previously 430-440MHz, in order to fit IARU region 2 and 3 band-plans. * 4 new modulations, for low Symbol Rates (56kS/s and 135kS/s): 11, 12, 20, 21. * Temperature measurement, and SI4463 re-calibration if delta temp > 15°C. * Bug fixes for all known telnet bugs : - Telnet behaviour was wrong with some telnet clients like Putty. - Telnet feature was forever lost if one telnet session was opened and when an IP configuration change is triggered (during radio connection or via manual configuration change). * A manual IP configuration modification is not anymore taken into account immediately, and therefore does not trigger an IP disconnection anymore. (you need to save and reboot the modem in order to take modifications into account). * Bug fix for the LED RX bug (LED RX could remain ON after "radio off" command) * Bug fix for bad initialization of radio module. If bad initialization detected, the modem will reboot after 10 seconds, for a new try. Refer to advanced user guide. Known issues * Modulation 24 and 22 : with several clients, clients can sometimes freeze, or loose reception during several seconds. Conditions undetermined. * Radio OFF and ON again behaves very badly. If you need to make "radio on" after a "radio off", prefer using "reboot". Same problem with some live modification of radio parameters.
